Thanksgiving is over.. Which means the holiday season is upon us and it is time to start thinking about what you want to do in 2019.
As the Association Executive, my priority is to make our members #1. A members is not an interruption of our work, but the purpose of it. I have that quote on my desk. I want to have it framed and put up on the walls of the office. I will make sure that gets added to my 2019 Goals.
We are here to help you in any way we can. We have put somethings in place to hopefully make things easier for you. Our members only website allows you to pay your dues, sign up for events and brokers can check on their agents as well. You can even go back online at tax time and get those receipts you need for your accountant.
In 2019, the Mid-State Association will be putting the Citation Policy in effect. This is a program that the National Association of Realtors has created that allows a quick turn around on certain ethics violations. If someone files an ethics complaint on one of the Citable Articles, we are able to send a citation to the respondent who can choose to pay the citation in lieu of a full blown professional Standards hearing, or can request a hearing. This is a great option when the ethics violation is clear cut, such as an Ad on facebook that doesn’t mention the person posting is a Realtor. Or a email that gets sent without adding a company in the email signature. Things that when pointed out to someone, they agree it is in error. Sometimes just paying a “fine” is much easier than going through a full professional standards hearing.
Also in 2019, we are going to work on encouraging more of our members to sign up with Forewarn. This is a great app that can keep you safe. A quick background check to make sure that the phone call you got from a new client, is not actually some horrible person hoping to lure you into a dangerous situation.
What can we do for you in 2019? I welcome your suggestions and ideas of what we can do to make your life easier??
