As we get closer and closer to the CT Education deadline, we receive more and more phone calls at the office from members asking about their education requirements. So here they are again:
CT EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Every two years, the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection’s Real Estate Commission requires licensees to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education (CE). For 2018, the State of CT DCP has announced that a 100% audit will be performed on all Salespersons and Brokers licensed in CT to determine that all licensees have complied with and satisfied the requirements stated below:
- 3 Hours “Fair Housing” (mandatory for 2016-2018 CE cycle) Please
- 9 Hours of approved Real Estate Elective courses.
Code of Ethics must be taken between Jan. 1, 2017- Dec. 31, 2018 and is considered an elective with the state of CT.
It really isn’t that difficult to remember: you have from June 1 of one even year to May 31 of next even year. (Brokers go from April 1 to March 31).
Our members only website has an Education Record right on it. All you need to do is log in, and click on the Education Record link under USER PROFILE and all classes that you took with Mid-State will show up right there. If you took a class anywhere else, all you need to do is send us over the CE Certificate and we will be happy to add it to your profile. (Please realize this is not the official DCP source, as it is the Schools responsibility to send along the completion info for any class that is held.)
Just take a couple of minutes and make a folder on your computer where you can scan and keep your CE Certificates or go old school and use a real folder. You only have to keep track of 4 certificates over 2 years. Shouldn’t be too difficult!!
