For some reason, we have been getting a lot of phone calls from members regarding their ce requirements. Lots and Lots of folks who seem to think that 2021 is an Education year and are beginning to panic that they can’t get into one of the Mandatory classes. I am not sure if the craziness of the Real Estate Market has caused some confusion, but we are NOT closing in on the deadline for your CE Classes. Real Estate professionals have 2 full years to take those pesky 12 credit hours. From June 1 of one even year (April 1 for Brokers) to May 31 of the next even year (March 31 for Brokers). 2021 is an odd year, so everyone has plenty of time.
With the restrictions slowly being lifted as to what businesses can do, our hope is that in the fall we can return to in person classes. As great and convenient zoom classes are, I am extremely tired of seeing all of you in little boxes on my screen. Bottom line is, if you want to take a class now, that is great.. We have some scheduled through the end of June. We will pick things up again in September, hopefully in person, but maybe a hybrid option. But don’t feel any panic if the class you want is full. There will be more!!
And for those of you who are still unsure of what classes you need, here we go again. You need to take 12 credit hours within the above mentioned 2 years. There are 2 mandatory classes this time around: Identifying Racial Bias in Real Estate and Real Estate Law for Brokers and Salespersons. The DCP is requiring both of these classes be taken either IN PERSON OR LIVE VIRTUAL. That means at this time, there are no online options. You can not go to your favorite online CE provider, like CE Shop or McKissock and take the class. If the rules change on this ,we will be happy to send out an update. Your other credits can be taken online. So use that 40% CE Shop coupon that is offered fairly regularly to take the classes that interest you. Finally to add to the mix, ALL REALTORS® need to have a Code of Ethics class completed between Jan. 1, 2019 and Dec. 31, 2021. So if you haven’t taken an ethics class in awhile, add that to your to do list. If you aren’t sure, just ask us. We will let you know if we have you on the completed list. Failure to complete the Code of Ethics by Dec 31 will result in your REALTOR® membership being suspended on Jan. 1, 2022.
